rhythm and celebration

Christmas carols have been playing all day. I slept in and awoke satisfied and with coffee. Treats have been simmered and served. The boys are tripping about with sparkling eyes. The yard is trimmed and tidied. The dog is grinning.

We’ve come to know that this means one thing:
Papa is home!

J’ has four full days home. While I feel as though I have done well this month, I’m struck by the relief and happiness that comes with having a partner in the home. Suddenly there’s just a bit of room to breathe…and it’s nice.

The next several days will be filled with love, food, and all kinds of moments and fun and catching up. It’s not the normal family life, but we celebrate and savor what we have been given.

(Also, for those who have been following these details, J got word last night that he successfully passed his final licensing exams! He’s now a ‘real’ EMT…and [of course] already talking about moving on to complete his next (final?) level of paramedicine!)
