beautiful sick day

EDIT:
Alright…maybe ‘loving it’ was a bit strong. The fire is out, the movie is done, and it’s all not quite so cozy and doable as it seemed this morning. Days like today are when we need a greater strength of character and peace and grace than the realities of pain.
Rest and peace to you this weekend….

The ultimate cozy-sick day has finally arrived. Truth be told, I’m kinda loving it.

The first snow arrived in the night, the last kiddo woke up ill but adorable, and one of our first morning moments was the reception of a pot of soup carried through the chill. Now, there’s a fire in the woodstove, more snow is falling, tea is steeping, and our mugs are filled with creamy and throat-soothing yumminess while we indulge and watch the classic ‘Fox and the Hound’.

(and we even stepped out for a whole four minutes into the new snow…after Jeremiah ran out to dance in it in his pj’s and socks!)

Despite the discomfort of the body, it really is nice to have a ‘good excuse’ to just cuddle and sip and wear woolens all day. I’m surrounded by a most loving and considerate community of women, generous in soup and words and presence, enabling me to give the whole of my energy to these boys.

On this cozy day of sickness, I feel exceedingly well within my soul. I am thankful.

I don’t know you at all…but we had a day just exactly like this yesterday (including first snowfall and everything!), and I agree – sometimes the discomfort of the body is so worth the comfort of a nap-cuddle-pajama day.

I too love snowy, sick days {just not too many of them;)}. Aww, poor little snow bird! What happened?

    Love the pictures.

Hows it going over there? Getting better yet?
