Breathe Mama

During the birth experience, women are often reminded to breathe. “Just breathe mama…”

Somehow, between that final exit and entrance and those first breaths of new life in our arms, we forget.
Breathing, respiration, inhale and exhale. The bringing in of life and renewal, the expelling of what has been used and what has become stagnant and harmful. Just breathe.

Motherhood is a tough art.
It’s heart-wrenching.
Exhilarating.
The best and worst of all things possible, all things hoped for, all things lost.
It’s beyond understanding until you’re there. Beyond explaining once you’re within it.

Just breathe mamas…. It’s a beautiful season. As all things, it will turn.

The photo below was taken early Autumn 2011. Twenty-one weeks pregnant. Always, learning to breathe.
